Given that’s it’s summertime and optimal berry-picking time, I naturally had to share a yummy, easy, preservative-free berry recipe with you: my Low-Sugar Healthy Berry Crumble! The juicy, double-berry base is topped with a buttery golden streusel-like topping, with added crunch from some heart-healthy oats! Perfect hot with ice cream or just by itself, you can make it in 10 minutes and then pop it in the oven to bake. Easy-peasy, berry squeezy!
You can use any mixture of berries that you want in this Low-Sugar Healthy Berry Crumble, as long as it amounts to two cups. I went berry picking recently with my toddler daughter, and gathered service berries (aka june berries) and mulberries from trees around our neighbourhood so those are the berries I used. I’ve also made it with a mixture of blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries, and that was equally delicious! There is only a teeny bit of sugar in the crumble topping, as the berries are sweet enough, so although the recipe is quite healthy, you’d never know it from the deliciously sweet taste!
